How Brandt HVAC Co Austin Was Born in Austin

We didn’t bring Brandt HVAC to Austin on a whim. We brought it here because this city deserves better than what a lot of homeowners were getting. Austin is a place where the heat doesn’t just inconvenience you, it punishes you. When an AC fails in a Cedar Park summer or a heat pump gives out during a January cold snap in Wells Branch, people need someone who treats the situation with the seriousness it deserves.

Before we opened our doors here, Devin Marlowe spent years watching what happened when HVAC work went wrong. Not the technical failures, those happen to every system eventually. The human failures: a homeowner quoted one price on the phone and handed another at the door. A repair that lasted three weeks because someone cut a corner on a part. An older customer in Hutto who didn’t know who she was letting into her house until a stranger was standing in her hallway.

Devin kept seeing the same pattern. The trade had plenty of skilled hands, but too many of them worked for companies that treated the homeowner as an afterthought. The work got done, eventually, but the person paying the bill was left guessing: who is this person, what exactly am I paying for, and will this actually hold up?

Brandt HVAC already had an answer to that. The Threshold Group family of brands was built around a simple idea: heat and cooling you can count on, from a tech you recognize at the door. Every job gets a written price before any work starts. Every technician is background-checked, identity-verified, and sent to you by name and photo before the visit. That standard already existed. What Austin needed was a local team willing to live it.

So we built that team here. Independent, locally rooted, and held to the same promise Brandt makes everywhere: you’ll know who’s coming, you’ll know what it costs, and you’ll know the work is covered.

Devin Marlowe’s Personal Connection to the HVAC Trade

Devin didn’t grow up dreaming about condenser coils. Nobody does. He got into this trade the way a lot of people get into the work they end up loving: he needed a job, and the job needed someone who cared. What started as a way to pay bills became something else entirely.

There’s a moment most HVAC people remember. Ours came early, on a service call in a hot house on the east side of Austin. The air was thick and still, the kind of heat that makes a living room feel like a closed car in August. The homeowner was a single mother with a baby asleep in a back bedroom. The system had been “fixed” twice already by another company. Both times it worked for a few days, then quit. She had paid for the same repair twice and was out of money and out of patience.

When we opened the unit, the problem wasn’t complicated. It was just never actually fixed. A part installed incorrectly, a sensor tripping, the same fault repeating because nobody had stopped long enough to find the real cause. We fixed it properly that afternoon. The house started cooling before we left.

That call crystallized something. The technical work matters, and it’s learnable. But the thing that separates a good HVAC company from a frustrating one is simpler: do you actually stop and solve the problem, or do you just get through the appointment and move on? Devin chose the first path and never looked back.

What gets him out of bed now isn’t the equipment. It’s the relief on someone’s face when the air kicks on and the room starts to cool, or when the furnace rumbles to life on a cold Sunday morning with a family huddled in blankets waiting for it. That feeling doesn’t get old. If he weren’t running Brandt HVAC Co Austin, he’d probably still be in the trade somewhere, because the work itself, done honestly, is the part he never wanted to give up.

You don’t do this for over a decade without developing a feel for it too. The sound a healthy compressor makes. The smell of a fan motor starting to burn out before it fails completely. The slight rattle that tells you a capacitor is on borrowed time. That’s lived experience, not a credential on a wall. And it’s the difference between a repair that lasts and one that doesn’t.

Meet Devin Marlowe – The Person Behind Every Job

Devin Marlowe is the Owner & Founder of Brandt HVAC Co Austin. He’s spent more than ten years in the HVAC trade, working on the full range of residential systems across Central Texas. That includes the scorching summers that test an AC to its breaking point and the rare but real winter nights when a furnace has to carry the whole house.

What sets Devin apart from a franchise technician reading a script is simple: this is his community, these are his neighbors, and the work carries his name. He’s not punching a clock. He’s building something that lasts in the city he cares about.

Devin’s approach to the trade reflects who he is off the clock: methodical, honest, and allergic to shortcuts. He believes a job isn’t done until it’s done right, and he won’t put his name on work he wouldn’t accept in his own home.

His commitment to every customer is direct: you’ll get a straight answer, a written price, and work that’s covered. No pressure, no games, no surprises at the door.

Our Promise to Austin Homeowners

Our promises aren’t brochures. They’re policies we follow on every job, from a quick capacitor swap in Shady Hollow to a full system replacement in Brushy Creek.

First, the price comes before the work. Every job gets a written estimate before any repair begins. You approve it, and that’s the price. Not a dollar more for something “we found along the way” unless you approve that too, in writing, first.

Second, quality parts matter. We don’t cut corners on components, because a cheap part fails twice and costs you more than the right part ever would. Brands like York, Daikin, and American Standard earned their reputations for a reason, and when your system needs something, we’d rather stand behind what we install.

Third, we stand behind the work. Under the Threshold Verified standard, every job is covered, and that coverage isn’t a vague promise, it’s the baseline for how this brand operates everywhere.

Our Credentials

When you hire someone to work in your home, you’re not just buying a repair. You’re trusting a stranger with your house, your family, and your comfort. That trust has to be earned before the work even starts.

Here’s what you can expect from every tech who works under the Brandt HVAC Co Austin name:

  • State-licensed. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires for HVAC work. No exceptions.
  • Insured & bonded. We carry the coverage that protects you and your property, and we’re glad to show proof when asked.
  • Locally experienced. Our team knows Austin’s climate, its housing stock, and the systems that keep homes comfortable here year-round.
  • Background-checked and identity-verified. Every technician goes through the Threshold Standard screening before they ever wear the Brandt name.
  • Badged and in uniform. The person at your door is exactly who we told you to expect: photo ID badge visible, clean marked uniform, name and photo sent before the visit.

Why does this matter? Because a license means the person working on your system knows the code and the craft. Insurance means a mistake doesn’t become your financial problem. A background check and a photo at the door mean you never have to wonder who’s walking into your home. For a homeowner home alone, or a parent with young kids, or an older adult who’s seen too many stories about door-to-door scams, that peace of mind is the whole point.

Rooted in Austin

Austin isn’t just where we work. It’s where we live, where we shop, where our kids go to school, and where we’ll be long after today’s service call is a memory. We know the neighborhoods, from Hornsby Bend to Lakeway. We know the soil, the shade patterns, the way the humidity builds in Lost Creek in July and how that changes the load on a condenser. We know it because we live here too.

Brandt HVAC is part of the Threshold Group family, and each location is an independent local business that agreed to work to Threshold Verified. That means we’re not a faceless brand pretending to be from everywhere. We’re a local team holding ourselves to a higher standard, here in Austin, one house at a time.
